Cologne Bonn Airport by bus or train
2004 saw the opening of a train station right at the heart of the airport, and since then the airport has benefited from excellent public transport links with the city centre. The airport is just a 14 minute ride from Cologne central station with S-Bahn line 1 (Cologne-Troisdorf), and just an 11 minute trip with the Regional Express train RE 8 (Rhein-Erft-Express). A journey planner can be found on our online-timetable. A one-way ticket from the city centre costs €2.70. Many ICE long-distance trains also stop at the airport train station.
Cologne Bonn Airport by car
The airport is connected to the Cologne motorway ring via the A59. The airport car parks have a total capacity of over 12,700 spaces. The maximum entrance height in all car parks is 1.95m – larger vehicles should use the north car park (ParkplatzNord).
Car park 1 (Parkhaus 1) at terminal 1 is expensive, with prices set at €4.50/hour or €23/day and no discount for longer stays. Car park 2 (Parkhaus 2) directly located opposite terminal 2 and car park 3 (Parkhaus 3), 350 m walking distance from terminal 2, offer much better prices for holiday travellers. Online reservation of a parking space makes arrival at the airport much more relaxed and also helps to avoid high parking costs.
The airport provides information on the current availability of parking spaces on its website:
There is a great need for parking facilities in a city like Cologne. As well as business travellers and visitors from near and far, it is the residents of Cologne themselves - particularly in the city centre - who search for free parking spaces on a daily basis.
parking guidance system (German site) - The parking guidance system tells you where and how many free parking spaces can be found in Cologne's city centre car parks.
