Shopping centres

WDR-Arkaden, Neumarkt-Galerie or the Rhein Centre in Cologne-Weiden – the shopping arcades in the city centre have long been an obligatory stop for many locals and tourists on their shopping trips. Located on the main shopping streets, they pull you in to shop and stroll with an interesting mix of cafés, eateries, shops and well-known brands.

This large complex on Neumarkt in the heart of Cologne offers a huge variety of shopping opportunities. Furniture, sports goods, kitsch and much more. And it’s not just shopping that’s on offer – here you’ll find cafés and restaurants for when you need to catch your breath. Primark will also open a store here towards the end of 2013. For adventure, look no further than Globetrotter; there are clothes aplenty in TK Maxx; and Cologne’s largest book store Mayersche is also here. (city map)

Kölner Ladenstadt/Opern-Passagen
The former Cologne Ladenstadt (Shop City) has been renovated and now sparkles and shines as the Opera Passage. An underground connection to DuMont-Carré and to the U-Bahn stop “Appellhofplatz” has also been built. (city map)

WDR Arcade
Architecturally, the WDR Arcade is one of the most interesting shopping centres in Cologne. But all your shopping needs are also taken care of with jewellery, women’s fashion, flowers and the WDR shop. There is also a Japanese restaurant and two cafés to kick back in and watch the world go by. Public transport stop: Appellhofplatz (city map)

Rhein Centre in Cologne-Weiden
The Rhein Centre is located to the west of Cologne, just off the A1 motorway and 11 minutes by S-Bahn from the cathedral. The city’s only Apple store is in this shopping centre. Spread out over 40,000m² (430,500 ft²), the more than 180 shops and 1500 parking places will fulfil the shopper’s every desire. (city map)

Cologne Arcades
